In what way might martial objects from the Mästerby battle − fought the days prior to the Battle at Visby − contribute to our knowledge of the Danish invasion? Whereas the interpretations of the Korsbetningen mass graves have focused on explaining why the Gotlanders lost rather than scrutinising the nature of the said remains, the material from Mästerby tells a different story, wherein the two sites comprise two sides of the same bloodstained coin.
